Q: Which of your mattresses are the most firm? I had back surgery last year and find that the firmer my bed the better I sleep, dont' like memory foam etc.. seems that the harder the surface the more I turn so the less stiff I am in the mornings. Thanks Michelle

There's no single right bed to ease a back problem and each different back problem also may require a different solution. The best approach is to research the options carefully, take time to try them out and choose what you personally find supportive and comfortable, regardless of labels or even price tags. You should also consult your specialist/GP before purchasing.

As a general rule the more springs in our mattresses the firmer they feel.  Look out for labels which contain the word "Ortho" as these are the firmest in that particular range.  The term 'orthopaedic' generally just means an extra firm bed; it is not based on any medical or other common standard, nor does it mean the bed has been professionally assessed or recommended.  It is a term loosely used by manufacturers to refer to extra firm models in their range.
