Pregnant women need to pay particular attention to their sleeping positions, according to some commentators.Claire Cipolletti in an article for empowher.com said some positions are not recommended for those carrying a little one, as they are either uncomfortable or not possible.She therefore recommends sleeping on the side, which is backed up by the American Pregnancy Association.She also said a woman ideally should be on her left hand side, but the other will be appropriate if this cannot be done comfortably.She said: "When sleeping on your side, keep your knees slightly bent and prop a pillow between them."You can also prop a pillow in between your belly and the bed for increased comfort."The University of Florida recently said research had shown newborn children need more sleep because this is when they most effectively process information.
