Mums 'need to prioritise' to get good sleep

07/07/2010

A commentator has said new mums should look to prioritise jobs to give themselves the best chance of decent sleep.

Amy Jo Jones, writing a blog for the Stir, underlined that mums can often find excuses for why they can't catch some sleep during the day.

The tips include delaying doing the dishes until later, or allowing a friend to lend a helping hand.

She said: "You don't have to go to your cousin's graduation party or your husband's company picnic. If you are worn out, stay home and don't be afraid to say so."

She also pointed out that even if a mum does not manage to find time to get sleep, they can try to use a baby's sleeping hours to relax.

Actress Sandra Bullock has told Now she gets by on about three hours sleep since adopting her son Louis Bardot.
