How to keep cool in bed on baking nights

24/06/2010

A website has delivered hot tips on how to keep cool in bed on sticky summer nights.

Helium.com said a lukewarm shower before going to sleep could help someone to cool down before they attempt to doze off.

Other suggestions included keeping windows open to keep the temperature down, while putting bed linen in the fridge to keep it cool may also help.

Advice also includes picking cool foods for dinner, which can slow down metabolism and prevent body temperature from going too high.

The article also said: "Hot nights are best spent sleeping alone.

"Having an extra body in bed with you raises the ambient temperature and can make sleeping uncomfortable during the summer months."

Families have also been advised recently to decorate bedrooms to reflect the warmer weather outside to create a cooler atmosphere.
