Going to bed affects restless leg syndrome

17/11/2011

People who suffer from restless leg syndrome will experience the condition deteriorating when they go to bed. Some of the symptoms of the condition are a creepy crawly sensation and a burning feeling which make it difficult for the sufferer to settle. It is a quite frequent occurrence for sufferers to be awakened during the night with the pain. They usually need to get out of bed and walk around until the pain subsides.

While there is no known medical cure for the condition, there are some ways that sufferers can relieve the pain and give themselves a better chance of having a pain free night of sleep. One of the methods recommended is to take a hot bath followed by a leg massage. Another recommendation is to reduce the caffeine and alcohol intake.

Another sleep disturbance is snoring: The British Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Association have released figures showing that 41.5 per cent of the population are affected by bedtime snoring.
