The vast majority of people take retiring for the night to their comfortable bed for granted, but as fundraisers in the UK city of Reading discovered recently, not everyone has that option. The Reading Chronicle reports that as part of Byte Night, 130 people spent the night on the streets to experience what the homeless go through every night. With just sleeping bags and sweaters, the group were informed on the best methods of keeping warm and dry and also how to remain safe. Speaking to the Chronicle, Chris Sykes, chief executive of a Wokingham company said that with it being his first time taking part in Byte Night he had a slight idea about what to expect, but was surprised by the level of effort and passion the Byte Night board members and the Action for Children team put into the event. To date this has been the most successful Byte Night with £650,000 raised so far.
