Hospital care improved with better mattresses

The University of Toronto has released a report stating that patient’s level of care in hospitals could be improved if the hospitals invested in better mattresses. Experts believe that using pressure-reducing mattresses could reduce the worldwide problem of bed sores. They also estimate that compared to the cost of treating bed sores, the cost of upgrading to better mattresses would be minimal.

Lead researcher Ba' Pharm stated that the quality of life for elderly patients in hospitals would be improved and money saved if the quality of mattresses was upgraded. Harvard Medical School recently conducted a study that found, due to sleeplessness, the production level of workers was costing the US economy money every year.  Professor of healthcare policy and psychiatric epidemiologist, Ronald Kessler,  said that  people did not understand how much some are affected by insomnia.
