Connecticut, US, has run its own version of an annual event becoming ever more popular in communities across the globe - the bed race.Southington Kiwanis Club ran its own version, the Apple Harvest Festival Bed Race, over the weekend.The Record Journal reported this year's event was won by an uncle and nephew double-act coming in with a time of 29.42.Dan Pellerin and his 14-year-old relative Ryan Upson won the race and even beat the local fire department to the title.The area is known as the Apple Valley du to a large number of orchards and first held the bed race some 20 years ago, though it had a break at one stage before returning due to local demand.Southington Kiwanis Club director Len Marcheselle said he was pleased with the race overall, telling the Record Journal: "The secret of the winning bed is in the wheels."Among the UK's most famous bed races is the Knaresborough event, which is held each summer and has grown in popularity in recent years.
