One family was suddenly woken from their beds this week by the sound of a 70ft tree crashing onto their house. The poplar to the rear of Morikebba and Julie Colley's home in Leeds broke off at the trunk and smashed a hole in the roof, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.Branches ended up in the kitchen and conservatory but the family counted themselves lucky as the tree narrowly missed six-year-old son Kairo as he slept in his bedroom.Mr Colley said: "There is a lot of damage, but if the tree had fallen to the right instead of the left it would have hit Kairo's bedroom."In September this year a mattress nearly caused bigger damage when it came out of the back of a Ford Transit tipper truck in Worcestershire, meaning another driver had to swerve to avoid a serious accident.
