A good bed could end up being a life-prolonging luxury, if a recent survey is to be believed. The study from the University of Warwick and Federico II University Medical School in Naples, published in the journal Sleep, indicated people who get less than six hours shut-eye per night on average die earlier.People getting this low amount are 12 per cent more likely to die before they get to 65, and are also more at risk of problems such as high cholesterol and diabetes.Professor Francesco Cappuccio from Warwick University said the problem of less time sleeping could be connected to "societal pressures for longer working hours and more shift-work".The study comes after more research from the Seattle Childrens' Research Institute, which indicated a lack of good sleep could be connected to high consumption of calories.
