On the ongoing debate regarding what is safe for a child’s bed, the American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP) has reaffirmed where it stands on the subject. They are now saying that the use of bumper pads in children’s beds should be stopped, where previously they had advised parents against the use of certain types. They are of the opinion that the potential for harm is a significant risk and that there is no evidence that they reduce or prevent injuries. The AAP recently stated that younger children and adolescents should be diagnosed and treated earlier for the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The lead author of the study, Mark Wolraich, said that it is important to identify and treat the children at an early age as it increases their chances of being successful in school.
