Playboy bed linen choice 'now in vogue'

27/04/2010

People looking for a touch of the Hugh Hefner-style of life will be glad to know some of his bedroom tastes are now in fashion.

The Times said while many people have traditionally gone for the likes of Egyptian cotton in the bedroom, silk is now more popular, a material often used by the Playboy icon.

The paper spoke to Caitlin McCann, the buying manager for Selfridges, who said more people are considering silk because attitudes to it are changing.

She said: "It has associations with studs with revolving beds and mirrors on the ceiling, but it doesn't have to be sleazy. I have silk pillowcases and they're really lovely."

Silk is created from the cocoons of larvae, typically the mulberry silkworm, mainly reared in captivity in countries such as India, China and Uzbekistan.
