Personal bed-space important to older children

11/04/2011

Interior design ideas differ greatly, between parent and child. However, considering your kids’ personal tastes can be beneficial.

The walls of a child's room will undoubtedly change colour numerous times as their tastes and interests vary, however it is perfectly fine to have the same bed for a number of years as long as it’s providing adequate support.

Perhaps one of the best ways to please both parent and child is to create a feature wall. By doing this you eliminate the costly and time-consuming practice of painting the entire bedroom (which will be changed at a later date anyway), while simultaneously fulfilling your child's wishes.

Coupled with this should be robust and reliable bedroom furniture, able to stand the test of time and whatever else a child may throw at it.

Celebrity Linda Barker, of 'Changing Rooms' fame has offered a tip for decorating children's bedrooms. Balancing colour and making sure you do not get too carried away should result in a simple yet pleasing décor.
