A pensioner is urging people to think twice before making rash purchase decisions after paying 3,000 for a bed from a door-to-door salesman.James Harris of Biddick Hall is reported to have been on the receiving end of a two-hour sales pitch from a seller after he saw a television advert from the firm.According to the Jarrow and Hebburn Gazette, Mr Harris ended up paying 2,700 for the bed and 300 for the delivery. He was reportedly told the bed was actually worth 6,000 and ended up going for what appeared to be a discount of more than 50 per cent.Mr Harris said: "I wish I'd asked him to go away for me to think about it. He hadn't broken the law or done anything wrong, but I want to urge other people to think about any big purchases they're going to make."Beds have also been in the news lately for more positive reasons - internet users have been taking part in a 'bed jumping' craze, posting pictures of themselves taken while posing in mid-flight.
