Neutral tones are 'not well-liked by anyone'

15/06/2010

One of the most popular style options people go for with regard to their bedroom is a palette of plain, neutral tones. While it is always a tough call to make, going for neutrals is not always the right choice.

When talking to Cleveland.com, Barrie Spang, interior design expert claimed that she uses an unusual method to wheedle out colour preferences during presentations. She stated that she regularly brings a large box of coloured crayons and asks each guest to pick out their favourite, noting "It's interesting that no-one ever picks beige or grey."

In the face of this, many people avoid making big colour statements in the bedroom, instead opting to use neutral tones brightened up by a colourful pillow or throw to inject a splash of colour on the mattress.

Spang stated that bedrooms and living areas should be decorated in most loved colours, while bright colours should be used for areas of the house that are used more rarely, such as laundry rooms.

She ended by saying "When I walk into my living room, I always feel happier."

Leading Florida bed company Pioneer Linens, suggested that some throw pillows are like works of art, acting as a focus on the bed within a room decorated in neutral hues.
