The style of bed and décor used in a bedroom is largely dictated by how much space a person has to play with, the Calgary Herald has suggested. Those living in older properties will need to maximise every inch of space they have with flexible furniture, while those in newer homes will frequently find they have more space - consequently providing the need for larger, more commanding pieces, like king size beds . According to Jeff Stoner, chief operating officer of Revolve Furnishings, lower beds are the most suitable bed frames for those who want to fill a room out, while four-poster beds are also a popular option. “We have a lower bed frame set up that stretches the room out a little bit more. A big, high four-post bed with a mattress shrinks the feel of the room,” Mr Stoner said. Beds that employ storage under the mattress have ignited the bedroom market, and Mr Stoner added that such bed designs are pivotal for more confined spaces. He said: “for customers who are in tight, older spaces, storage beds have become absolutely huge, especially where the dressers are under the beds.” Regarding general furnishings in communal areas – including the bedroom – Mr Stoner revealed: “It’s not all chocolate brown anymore. For a while, it was dark, rich tones, and now it’s starting to lighten up again, with lots of life and colour coming back.”
