There has been an increase in funding throughout the country that has given councils, housing associations and other community providers the extra cash needed to provide the homeless with more beds . The Homes and Communities Agency estimate that 1,200 bed spaces will be created thanks to the £37.5 million of funding. It is ridiculous state of affairs that in the 21st century there are people living on the streets of Great Britain who do not have the benefit of the aid being offered, according to housing minister Grant Shapps. London received the largest amount of the funding with £11 million being given to improve the services for the city’s rough sleepers. At the same time is has been announced that Premier Inn has appointed a bed bouncing director to assess mattress comfort in their hotel rooms. The director, 39 years old Natalie Thomas, will have the task of testing all 46,000 beds in the hotel chain by the end of February 2012.
