Home experts have said mattress owners are best off using a protector to avoid irreparable stains.Akron Beacon Journal home writer Mary Beth Breckenridge reacted to a question from someone whose nephew does not use bed linen and ends up with dirty bedding.She suggested following the advice of many mattress manufacturers and using soap and water, but only gently as cleaning products can harm the fabric and make warranties worthless.The expert added prevention is a better strategy than cure and suggested a mattress cover to avoid future problems.Last week Ms Breckenridge said manufacturers are now prepared to put more effort than ever into mattresses, conducting studies into environmentally-friendly fillings and temperature control.
