Divan beds make a resounding comeback

21/06/2010

Bed fashions seem to be edging backwards with the traditional divan heading for a comeback, according to reports.

An article in the Guardian by Paula Cocozza says the style is popular again as people look for more functionality.

The writer points to beds becoming sofas, as shown at the Milan furniture fair earlier this year.

Editor for Elle Decoration Sarah Slade suggested the area between living and sleeping domains was becoming more difficult to navigate.

Ms Slade said: "We're spending a lot more time at home these days. It's all about cocooning."

She added people are increasingly looking for a place where they can relax and avoid the strains of the daytime.

The Calgary Herald recently dispensed advice on buying new bed gear, with experts suggesting a neutral bed linen because it may stand up better over time when compared to bright designs.
