No matter how much some parents would like it, children cannot sleep in their cots forever. Purchasing the first bed for a child will give them a feeling of being grown up and will start them on the road to independence. Giving a child their own bed does not mean the end of a parent’s role in getting their kid to sleep. They should still read them a story or take them a glass of warm milk. It is important that children recognise the signs telling them it is time to sleep. Parents should have a bedtime routine such as switching on the bedside lamp, which tells the kid that it is time to go to bed. Many children find new beds frightening and it may be difficult to get them into the bed. Putting their favourite toys and covers on the bed may help them to accept it more quickly.
