A bed proved the best hiding place a burglar could find as he tried to escape the attentions of police in Hartlepool.Neighbours alerted a homeowner in Stockton Road after the intruder was seen getting in through an open window.But after searching the property and finding nothing, police said owner Adam Magee could return to the house.After drifting off to sleep the 30-year-old was suddenly awoken by the intruder crawling out from under his bed.Mr Magee said: "I was just lying there when I heard a noise to the left of me."I looked across and saw a guy shuffling himself out from under my bed. It was awful and I did feel a bit scared." Recently a mass pillow fight broke out in York, proving more successful than an attempt at a similar event last year which was broken up by police.
