A divan and mattress set are designed to work together in harmony, so we would strongly advise against buying a new mattress for use on an older divan base.
I need a really firm bed to support my back...
It isn't true that a firmer bed is always better for bad backs, you should instead choose a mattress that gives you the support you need while feeling comfortable.
